The Effects of Different Fuel Blends on Vehicle Performance

I am an Automotive and Motorsports Bachelors student with previous experience at Caterpillar.

My project investigates the effects of different ethanol levels in gasoline fuels, comparing power, torque, fuel consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions.

The project focuses heavily on the potential ethical and environmental issues associated with the increased production of ethanol and the overall effects that the inclusion of ethanol has on an engine’s total performance.

The software used throughout the project includes Realis WAVE, a 1D gas dynamics simulation tool used to calculate and govern the transfer of mass, momentum, and energy for compressible gas flows.
