I am a final year BSc Computer Science student at Staffordshire University with a strong interest in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and accessibility-focused technologies. My project, SceneAssist, is a lightweight AI framework designed to generate real-time spoken scene descriptions for visually impaired users. The system combines YOLOv8 object detection, contextual scene understanding, and speech output to provide on-device environmental awareness through live camera input. The project focuses on low-latency processing, privacy-preserving inference, and practical assistive technology that can operate without reliance on cloud-based services.
