Exploring how access to the outdoors benefits a preschool childcare setting
I am a Psychology and Child Development student and this is my final year research project. Using a qualitative design, I explored how a team of childcare practitioners perceived the benefits of their newly built setting, having relocated from premises in a built-up location with limited outdoor provision. The new site incorporates a nature reserve, a forest school, and full access to the outdoors all year round. Participants describe how the setting has changed their relationships with the children they care for, the children’s families and other staff members.
