Exploring black womens' experience of accessing mental health services
“We are taught to be strong,” explores Black Female University Students’ experiences of accessing university mental health support. Using IPA, the study examines how support is experienced and how culture, identity, and expectations of strength, shape help-seeking. The findings suggest that access alone is not enough; support also needs to be meaningful, consistent, relational, and culturally informed. I have a particular interest in working with the under-represented population who struggle with their mental health, and exploring how mental health interacts with intersectionality.
