This study evaluates the importance of macroscopic characteristics of different feathers which can aid the identification of a bird in wildlife forensic investigations. 110 feathers were examined from multiple species, colouration, lengths and widths from varies points, weight, colour distribution, and scanning electron microscopy were examined on the feathers. Significant structural variation b observed with different feathers having different sizes. Distinct colours were seen with Hyathcin macaws showing blue, Eclectus females red and cockatoo feathers white. The findings show that the macroscopical features provide distinguishing features which strengthen the evidential value of feathers in wildlife investigations.
