As digital forensics advances, deepfakes and image manipulation increasingly undermine the credibility of multimedia evidence. This challenges the reliability and admissibility of digital evidence, highlighting the need for robust forensic tools to verify authenticity. Although image tampering has long been studied, the rise of deepfakes demands renewed research. This study performed testing on Amped Authenticate, a forensic authentication tool. The mixed findings underscore the challenges posed by deepfake technology and the need for forensic authentication tools to ensure the integrity of digital evidence in criminal investigations.
