Department of Work and Pension Sanctions: Impact on Social Work Practice
This literature review discusses the complexity of unique oppressions, and the challenges that individuals may face when experiencing Department of Work and Pension sanctions imposed as a consequence of social policy measures, and how this can further compound health inequalities, thus impacting social work practice. This work considers an intersectional approach juxtaposed with relevant theories to understand the direct impact of social policy, and how social workers can support individuals in overcoming such oppression. This literature also references a Serious Adult Review (SAR) to highlight how disengagement may warn practitioners of increased vulnerability.
