I am an undergraduate Forensic Science student, and this project aimed to investigate the potential use of Alternative Light Sources as a method of detection for drugs such as MDPHP and Cocaine when soaked into paper. This is a common method that is used to smuggle drugs into prisons through the postal system, and current detection methods are too slow to keep up with the rate at which these substances are synthesised.
