A Systematic Review of the Effect of Music on Sprinting

As a postgraduate student passionate about sport science and performance enhancement, my research focuses on the influence of psychological and auditory stimuli, such as music, on sprinting outcomes. This systematic review investigated the effects of music versus no-music conditions on sprint performance, heart rate, perceived exertion, and mood across athletic and general populations. Findings suggest that music can enhance sprint performance, especially over longer distances, and reduce perceived exertion, though effects on heart rate and mood were mixed. The review underscores the need for more controlled, high-quality trials to confirm these promising but varied effects.
