2D Procedural Dungeon Generation

I’ve long been interested in Procedural Content Generation in games, as well as emergence in PCG, AI, and even game design. My project includes 2D dungeon/cave generation using Cellular Automata, a simple cell-based algorithm where cells flip between two states depending of the count of neighbouring cells in each state. Conway’s Game of Life demonstrates emergence using Cellular Automata, where repeating patterns act as primitive creatures without this being made explicit by the creator. The project’s original purpose was to measure the processing times of various generation techniques, however this was the main inspiration.
