VR as a Tool to Enhance Jury Understanding of Complex Forensic Diagnoses

As a BSc (Hons) Forensic Investigation student passionate about the Electronic Presentation of Evidence, this project examines how Virtual Reality (VR) can transform forensic evidence delivery in court. Specifically, it explores the use of VR to present post-mortem CT (PMCT) scans, which are typically viewed on 2D screens, limiting spatial clarity. By immersing jurors in 3D reconstructions during a mock trial, the study evaluates whether VR enhances understanding of cause-of-death evidence, moderates emotional responses, and influences legal decisions. The findings aim to inform best practices in leveraging technology to improve forensic evidence communication within the criminal justice system.
