The Show Pony and The Prize Pig is a collaborative project with photographer Kitt Murphy. Focusing on issues of beauty, misogyny and the male gaze in Pre-Raphaelite art, the works use the symbolism of organic forms and their place within hierarchical structures in Christian doctrine, as a metaphor for woman as animal, presenting the characters as prized commodities that must be seen and not heard. The artists explore issues of feminine identity, oppression and gender politics by reauthoring the realities of these women from contemporary feminist and socio-political perspectives.
