Intuitive Onboarding

Intuitive Onboarding is a third person Metroidvania which focuses on implicit tutorialisation: it was made to address the issue of similar games overwhelming players with an abundance of interlocking and complex mechanics.

The game was inspired by Hollow Knight’s ability-gated exploration and Celeste’s bite-sized mechanic teaching, and was developed in Unreal 5, with Microsoft Word and Figma used for documentation. In it, the player unlocks abilities like a dash and wall climb to progress through a large level. Checkpoints are present throughout.
