From Earth to Air

Isabella connects material origins to the biodiversity surrounding it. She collects ‘wild clay’ and glaze materials locally, recording audio and visual footage of avifauna at dig sites, manually processing clay, and drawing from photographs and spectrographs. She 3D scans items such as twigs and plays with upscaling, exploring contrasts between low- and high-tech ceramic methods, experimenting with software and obscuring her drawings under layers of digital manipulation to create 3D-printed sculptures celebrating the variety of wild clay and biodiversity.
