Evaluating Horror Methodologies in a VR Game Enviroment

This project, made in accompaniment with a dissertation paper, creates 4 environments within a VR Unity game, and conducts an in depth analysis of the four, to find which method is the most effective for instilling fear within a gamer.

The 4 genres are The Uncanny Valley, Reliable Audio, Unreliable Audio and Gore. These 4 scenes were tested using a heartrate monitor to try and prove which method is the most effective in comparison to the others. The conclusion was the The Uncanny Valley instilled the most fear, but that maximum fear does not spell maximum enjoyment in horror games.
