Drugs in Blood

This study investigates the detection of cocaine, specifically benzoylecgonine (BZ) its’ main metabolite, in blood samples using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). This project focuses on what concentration BZ is detectable, and the effects of BZ after time. FTIR is utilised to accurately identify and quantify BZ, enabling a comprehensive analysis of its presence and persistence in blood samples. By examining the degradation patterns of BZ over specified time intervals, this study aims to determine the optimal detection window for forensic investigations.
