3D printing all the designs
My name is Alexios Makarezos and I am an international student from Greece, I have been studying Mechanical Engineering at Staffordshire University for the past three years. My final year project was about making a ‘Biomimetic boat hull design, utilising engineering tools to increase efficiency’. In total, seven different designs were made, all of them with a feature inspired by nature, such as shark fins, whale throat grooves and whale tubercles. In a CFD software (Ansys Workbench), all of the designs were tested in order to find which had the best drag coefficient, which was 0.04, (first photo, finsfilletedfrontandback).
