A Distributed Framework To Enhance Inter-Domain Routing Security
Hello! My name is Binita, and I’m a final-year Cyber Security student at the University of Staffordshire London.
The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the core inter-domain routing protocol that acts as the glue connecting autonomous systems across the Internet. However, BGP lacks mechanisms to verify route and origin authenticity, enabling prefix hijacking attacks that can cause widespread outages.
This project proposes an incrementally deployable integrated management plane framework for distributed route validation, without modifying the existing BGP protocol. The framework’s deployment feasibility is evaluated by conducting scalability and operational overhead tests as the network topology size increases.
